Your Baby - Week Six

At week six, your baby's brain is divided into five cavities.  The ears of your infant are forming while the sinus cavity lengthens as it grows.  At 36 days, your baby is beginning to form his or her internal organs such as the stomach, liver and esophagus.  The embryo still appears curved at this stage.

During week six, the jaw is developing, the face is forming.  Color is appearing on the eyes while the eye muscles are growing.  The yolk sac begins to break down as the liver takes over making new blood cells for the fetus.  Chambers are forming in the heart as the embryo begins resembling something more or less human.  Your baby is approximately 8 mm at this stage.  On day 42, your baby is now forming a sense of smell!

At this stage of your pregnancy, you may feel like sleeping every chance you get.  You are fatigued, your breasts may be sore and you might be nauseas.  It is possible you are urinating more frequently as well.
