Your placenta is a little over an inch thick and measures about eight
to ten inches in diameter. Your amniotic sac contains about a quart of
water. You may rupture your water before labor starts - even in a public
place! It can happen in the hospital just before delivery as well.
Some women find a slight leak that appears to be urine coming from their vagina.
If this is the case, you should call your OB/GYN. You will probably be
sent to the office or hospital to have it checked for amniotic fluid. If
it tests positive, you are probably in the hospital to stay!
By now, your baby
will be 14 to 15 inches from crown to bottom and can weigh from 6 1/2 to 9
pounds! You are more than ready to deliver your baby. This can be
the most exciting week of your pregnancy, as well as the most exhausting.
You have probably developed a nesting instinct - the urge to clean and have
everything in it's place. Some women find huge bursts of energy - but do
not give in to this and overwork yourself. You need every ounce of
strength for the delivery of your beautiful baby!
