Your Baby - Week Thirty-One

Your baby is swallowing amniotic fluid and urinating several cups daily by week thirty-one.  Your uterus is becoming very cramped, and movement is slowing down a bit.  Due to "space issues," your baby is in the fetal position.  Your baby's weight gain is slowing down a bit.  Meconium, a green, dark combination of dead cells from the liver as well as mucous, is now forming in the intestines.  Your baby has developed his or her own immune system.  Your baby is keeping a temperature of about 32 degrees above your own maternal temperature.

By now, you are probably planning your shopping trips around the location of the nearest bathroom.  You may not be sleeping through the night because of bathroom breaks.  Be sure to pamper yourself at this stage.  Sit down, kick your feet up and enjoy a nice glass of lemonade - which is known for settling a queasy pregnant stomach.
