By week thirty, your baby is about 11 inches long and can can weigh up to
three pounds! Your baby's toenails are fully formed by 30 weeks.
Your baby looks paler because the baby fat is filling out nicely. Fat will
insulate your baby and will also serve as an energy source. Have you felt
hiccups yet? This can be an entertaining moment for you, Mom! If
your baby continues to hiccup or is fussy after birth, look for signs of
gastroesophageal reflux.
You may notice a creamy yellow to clear substance on your nipples. This
is colostrum, the first milk your baby will receive. Colostrum is easier
to digest than regular breast milk, and will provide your baby with his or her
first few meals. It might be necessary for you to wear bra pads by this
stage to prevent leakage onto your shirt.
Are you having trouble sleeping? If so, purchase a "pregnant pillow" -
a body length pillow designed for pregnant women. Lean your head on the
top, wrap the rest over your belly and place the bottom half between your knees.
If this is not comfortable, you will find many other ways you can use this
pillow.
You may develop back pain by now, due to the extra weight you are carrying,
as well as the loosening of your pelvic joints.
