Your baby's brain up to now has remained smooth on the surface. But
now, furrows and grooves are forming on the cerebral cortex. The functions
of various parts of the brain are maturing. The areas for sight, hearing,
smell, walking and speech are fully in place.
Red blood cells are now produced in the marrow of your baby's bones.
Your baby's hair is starting to grow on his or her head, while the lanugo (downy
hair covering) on your baby's body is beginning to disappear. If you are
having a boy, his testes are now in the scrotum.
Your OB/GYN may check your baby's position at this stage. If your
baby's head is not down yet, do not worry. You have plenty of time for
your baby to move out of breech position, as many do at this stage.
