Although your placenta still provides all the nutrients to your baby, his or
her intestines are developing enough to pass swallowed sugars to the large
bowel. Additionally, bone marrow is producing blood cells at twenty one
weeks.
Your baby's nerve fibers are connected now. Your baby begins to move
quite often, helping muscles and bones to build and become strong. Your
baby stretches, turns, grasps and kicks. Motor ability increases as your
baby "exercises" in the womb.
You may become a bit sore from the movements of your little one - but the
excitement of feeling your baby move is well worth it. As your pregnancy
progresses, movement will become increasingly frequent, reassuring you that your
little one is growing healthy and stronger every day.
