Your Baby - Week Twenty

At the end of this month, you have completed your fifth month of pregnancy - Congratulations!  You have completed half of your pregnancy, and with flying colors.

Your baby is developing "brown fat," a specialized tissue that keeps his or her body heat up.  This began forming in the fourth month.  The neck, chest and crotch have deposits of brown fat, which will grow throughout your pregnancy. 

Your baby's skin appears red and wrinkly because fat has not yet fully developed under the skin.  At week twenty, your baby weighs about 11 ounces and is about 6.3 inches long.
