At the end of this month, you have completed your fifth month of pregnancy -
Congratulations! You have completed half of your pregnancy, and with
flying colors.
Your baby is developing "brown fat," a specialized tissue that keeps his or
her body heat up. This began forming in the fourth month. The neck,
chest and crotch have deposits of brown fat, which will grow throughout your
pregnancy.
Your baby's skin appears red and wrinkly because fat has not yet fully
developed under the skin. At week twenty, your baby weighs about 11 ounces
and is about 6.3 inches long.
