This week or next, you may feel your baby move! This is called a
quickening, and feels like a fluttering in your belly. If this is your
first child, you may not recognize the first movements. Your pregnancy may
begin to feel more real to you once you can feel your baby turn and kick.
Eyebrows and eyelashes are beginning to form on your baby's face. Taste
buds are developing on your baby's tongue at this stage of growth. The
lungs of your baby are "breathing" amniotic fluid in preparation for birth.
By the end of next week, your baby may weigh about six ounces and can measure
about 5 /12 inches in length. The heartbeat can be heard by family members
during OB/GYN visits.
