Your Baby - Week Twelve

This is an exciting week in your baby's development.  All of your baby's major systems are forming, and your baby now has a distinguishable thumb.  Amazingly, your baby can now make facial expressions!  The brain is developed and will continue to grow at a rapid pace.  As your baby ingests amniotic fluid, the body is able to expel it as urine.

By this month, you may feel great excitement in anticipation of an upcoming ultrasound.  Do you want to know, or would you rather wait?  At twelve weeks, an ultrasound may just show the sex of your baby!

The hormones and increased blood volume in your body can give you that "pregnant glow," although you may break out with occasional pimples due to increased oil secretion.  At twelve weeks, you may feel some relief from morning sickness, although cravings and food repulsions will probably continue throughout the remaining months of your pregnancy.
