At ten weeks, several of your baby's organs are mature enough to begin
functioning. The thyroid gland, gallbladder, liver and pancreas are
beginning to perform their most basic functions. The thyroid is even
producing insulin for your baby. Blood cells are now formed inside your
baby rather than in the yolk sack.
Your little one now has his or her first tooth buds! The head is
sensitive to touch - just imagine. Weighing about 1/4 of an ounce, your
baby is approximately 2 inches long from head to rump. During 9 to 12
weeks, your baby will nearly double in length.
If your OB/GYN has a Doppler stethoscope, you may just hear your baby's
heartbeat for the first time!
