Huge Stroller Recall in the American Market
Do you own a Maclaren umbrella stroller? If so, be sure to read on. The Maclaren stroller company has just recalled every stroller they have sold in the United States since 1999. This recall includes nearly one million strollers.
The company states that there have been reported finger injuries as well as possible fingertip amputations near one of the stroller’s joints. The injuries occurred as children held on to the stroller while the parents were actively folding it.
These strollers were designed to be closed using one foot and one hand. Some of the children’s injuries happened as their parents closed the stroller in a manner not shown in the instruction manual.
The Maclaren website states that they are providing a kit to stroller owners that will cover the elbow joint in question. They strongly urge all parents to be sure children are well out of reach of the strollers when they are being closed and opened. The website gives the following quote: “If a buggy is folded or unfolded in line with our operating instructions the risk of injury is non existent.”
