Having trouble trying to conceive? Then this new home fertility test kit just might be for you!
Sometimes it just takes a little while to conceive. But for some, there may be physical reason in either the male or the female that is preventing successful conception. Couples can now begin investigating fertility issues at home with the new home fertility test kit called Fertell.
Fertell is used at home and takes about 90 minutes for results to become available. Both the male and female are able to test themselves, enabling a couple to begin researching possible causes for infertility. This test has been approved by the FDA and is considered 95% accurate. This test will probably cost about $100 USD.
But what does Fertell measure? The test for the female measures the follicle stimulating hormone, or FSH in the first morning urine on a woman’s third day of her period. The test will indicate whether a woman’s FSH level is within the normal range. A high FSH level indicates the woman’s chances for conception are decreased. If so, chances may be increased with the help of a physician or fertility clinic.
The male test measures the concentration of the motile sperm that is better suited toward swimming toward a female’s egg. If the motile sperm count is low, there is a decreased chance for successful fertilization. This test comes with detailed instructions that suggest the test be taken two to seven days since the last ejaculation.
Critics warn that the test measuring the female follicle stimulating hormone does not take in to consideration the additional hormones involved in women’s fertility. But it does give a couple a beginning, enabling them to decide the best course of action to increase chances of conception.

I want a (choose one) Girl! Boy!
Is there an absolute way for you to make a boy or girl? No… but there are some fun ways to try for that girl or boy baby! It is the man’s sperm that determines the sex of your baby – X for female and Y for male. The male sperm (Y) are small and weak but fast. The female sperm (X) is stronger but slower than the male sperm. Although you can’t “make” a boy or girl, you can certainly try some things to increase the chances of conceiving a male or female baby.
Timing can be everything when trying to have a boy or a girl. Intercourse three days before ovulation can help if trying for a girl. This will allow the female sperm to reach the egg before the male sperm. The woman’s body will have more time to kill the faster male sperm before ovulation occurs. The female sperm, although slower, is stronger and has better chance of reaching the egg. If trying for a boy, intercourse should occur closer to ovulation, enabling the faster sperm to reach the egg before the female.
If you are having trouble conceiving, do not attempt these methods, as some can diminish your chances for conception.
How to Conceive a Girl
- Beginning five days before ovulation, have intercourse every day up to three days before ovulation.
- Shallow penetration in the missionary position will increase your chances for having a girl. There is more acidity near the entrance of your vagina. Acidity will break down the male sperm, which is weaker, leaving more female sperm available for fertilization.
- Do not have an orgasm when trying for a girl. This will make you more alkaline – an environment that suits the male sperm.
- Have your male partner take a hot bath just before intercourse.
- Eat legumes and dairy if trying for a girl.
- Douche with water and vinegar prior to intercourse.
How to Conceive a Boy
- Have intercourse one to two days before ovulation.
- Have an orgasm during intercourse, which causes an alkaline environment – favoring the male sperm. Contractions during the orgasm will also serve as a “wave” to carry the male sperm towards the egg.
- Penetration from behind, with a woman on her hands and knees. This will help the male sperm to be closer to the egg for fertilization.
- Have your male partner drink something caffeinated just before intercourse.
- Douche with water and baking soda prior to intercourse.
